What Is Sciatica?

In case you don’t already know, the sciatic nerve is the nerve that branches out from the spinal chord and runs down each of your legs.  Some pinched sciatic nerve symptoms range from severe pain in the hip or leg, to simple numbness or tingling.

Sciatica is the condition where pressure is put on the sciatic nerve.  Common causes of sciatica include a tight Piriformis muscle in your hips or a herniated or bulging disc in your lower back.  Sciatica can also be caused by simple things like muscle imbalances or poor posture.

What Can Be Done About It?

There are many things you can do to alleviate the pain from sciatica.  There are stretching exercises to relieve sciatica that help loosen muscles that may be putting pressure on the nerve.  There are also several alternative cures for sciatica that have had positive results such as massage and acupressure.

Other people may resort to taking pain relief supplements to reduce the pain that they experience or even try an inversion stretch table to decompress the spine and give the sciatic nerve more “breathing room” so to speak.

What Can Sciatic Nerve Help Do?

This website is here to help you learn how to get past the pain and move on with your life.  I’m quite familiar with the pain of sciatica myself.  Personally, I dealt with Piriformis Syndrome, which is a form of sciatica caused when a small muscle in your hip (called the Piriformis) becomes too tight and begins crushing the sciatic nerve.

The pain got so bad, that at one point I could barely even walk more than a few steps without stopping to rest.

I saw a doctor and he gave me a few stretching exercises for Piriformis Syndrome that I could do at home twice a day.  I kept them up for a few weeks and before I knew it the pain was completely gone.

Now I understand that not everyone is lucky enough to be able to find a sciatica home treatment that works for them, but not everyone needs to go to the extreme of getting a discectomy or some other kind of surgery for their sciatica.

Sciatic Nerve Help is here to help you learn about your options before you decide to try a dangerous or expensive operation (that may not even permanently get rid of the pain!).
